Having appeared on the third page of a national newspaper when I was only six months old (in the bath wearing an inflatable ring no less), you could say I started my visual journey early. Growing up the son of an award-winning photographer, it should have been fairly obvious that I'd pick up the bug at some point.
Yet flashing forward twenty or so years, I still didn't know how to use a camera other than pressing the shutter button. So I started to learn. I bought a camera, took pictures, hated them, took more pictures, hated them a little less, took more pictures, rinse, repeat. Shout out to Scott Kelby's wonderful books that helped me quickly make progress, along with my Dad who gave honest critique from 3,500 miles away back in Scotland.
Video. It killed the radio star, but it had me hooked. Vlogging, b-roll, interviews, NLEs, LUTS, slow-mo, sound design,360 cameras, there was a wealth of stuff to get stuck into. The puzzle of putting together an edit continues to be a chase that excites and inspires me.
At the core of it all, it's the human moments that I enjoy capturing the most. Finding and sharing those experiences is what drives and inspires me to create.
